What is Green Play?
Green Play is a nonprofit initiative focused on measurable environmental action through college sports. Simply put, Racing to Zero is our parent organization, and Threes for Trees is our first-ever campaign.
Green Play
At the end of the game, we keep score differently. Green Play aims to produce measurable environmental impact through native tree planting to help reforest areas in need across Canada. Support a movement bringing together college sports fans, student-athletes, & community members who care about the environment.
Threes for Trees
Green Play pledges to plant a minimum of one tree to help reforest areas in need across Canada. Threes for Trees is in collaboration with UBC Varsity Athletics. Green Play is proud to support Tree Canada as its official planting partner.
What's next after this season?
Threes for Trees is far from being our first and final campaign. Green Play aims to help communities across Canada plant trees while also supporting collegiate sports. Stay tuned for our next campaigns, involving more sports and more universities.

Why I Started Green Play
Making a difference can come in many shapes & forms. For me, having had the opportunity to live around the world and travel thanks to both my awesome family & basketball, I’ve realized the impact that sports can have on society and the environment. My parents instilled in me from a young age the importance of spending time outside, and seeing the current global environmental crisis, I realized that I could and should do my part to use my platform & make a change. Green Play combines the incredible atmosphere of college sports in Canada with tree planting. Why not give back to the environment while also enjoying ourselves & competing in the sports we love? This is only the beginning for Green Play, but our family will continue to grow.
